LimeWire Ordered to Shut Down Operations
"A Manhattan U.S. District Court judge has ordered LimeWire to halt the distribution of its file-sharing software because the service is used ""overwhelmingly for infringement,"" reports CNNMoney.com.
LimeWire shut down Wednesday, leaving a notice on its website saying the company ""is under a court-ordered injunction to stop distributing and supporting its file-sharing software.""
Officials from LimeWire said in a statement, ""While this is not our ideal path, we hope to work with the music industry in moving forward. We look forward to embracing necessary changes and collaborating with the entire music industry in the future.""
CEO George Searle posted a message on LimeWire's website, as well: """"The injunction applies only to the LimeWire product. Our company remains open for business. Our team of technologists and music enthusiasts is creating a completely new music service that puts you back at the center of your digital music experience. We'll be sharing more details about our new service and look forward to bringing it to you in the future."""

Microsoft Hints At 2012 Release Of Windows 8
Reports are indicating that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is hard at work to roll out what some say may be their Windows 8 edition in 2012, however, we emphasize that these are merely rumors at this point.
According to a post celebrating the one-year anniversary of Windows 7, the fastest selling OS in history, Microsoft's Dutch Website briefly mentioned the creation and release of its successor.
On the Dutch website, the company said, "Microsoft is on course for the next version of Windows. But it will take about two years before 'Windows 8' is on the market."
Reports from last year indicated the company was building a 128-bit version of its OS, which could very well be Windows 8.
